How Does the Vaginal Secretion Change Over the Month? Do You Need To Be Worried?
A few days after menstruation
Estrogen and progesterone is very low, so the secretion is minimal or there isn’t any. Also, you may notice dark brown discharge, but it is only trace of the menstrual blood.
Seven to 10 days before ovulation
Estrogen level grows again and the healthy secretion becomes cloudy or white, slightly sticky and thick.
The secretion becomes clear and thin (similar to egg white). You will also notice that it is more abundant than in any other period in the month, because the estrogen is secreted mostly in the time of ovulation.
Why do the changes occur: during these days you are fertile and therefore the secretion helps the sperm to reach the egg cell?
Estrogen immediately after ovulation begins to decline and your mucus again becomes sticky and almost white or whitish and cloudy. The closer the new period is, the level of hormone is lower.
