Goodbye To Hemodialysis Machine, Scientists Develop The Bionic Kind
Even though nature is extremely powerful, in some cases we need the help of modern medical technology, like in the cases of people who are on hemeodialysis.
They go through an immeasurable suffering, so they need all the help they can get.
Kidney patients usually wait for years in a line in order to receive a kidney.
Luckily, the scientists at the University of California, San Francisco announced their plan to launch the first artificial bionic kidney this year, which raises the hope of millions of people around the world.
The reason why manufactured kidney is an excellent solution is because it is almost identical to the natural one, it has silicon filters, live cells and it bio-hybrid.
This type of kidney works with a series of microchips and the human heart is moving it in order to filter the waste from our bloodstream.
“The Kidney Project” was released by William Fissell of Vanderbilt and Shuvo Roy of UCSF.
The doctors claimed that there is a zero chance for the body to reject this bionic kidney since it is made from kidney cells.
In order to go through with the research, the team was given a $ 6 million grant from the Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (Nibib) in November 2015.
