The reason why we need a good night’s rest is because then our body regenerates the energy that is lost throughout the day due to stress or long busy day.
While we are resting, there are millions of processes in our body that stand in the way and the most important among all of them is the regeneration of cells and reparation of the tissues that were damaged while we were awake.
This means that when we stay awake during the whole night, the regeneration can’t take place. As a result of that, we are moody, we can’t focus on things and most importantly, we can even experience serious and harmful side-effects if we continue not sleeping.

A cardiovascular study conducted on 657 Russian male heart attack patients between the ages of 25 to 64, showed that around two thirds had a continuous lack of sleep. Moreover, these people also had 2,6 times higher risk of heart muscle failures and 1,5 times the risk of brain strokes.

The statistics showed that many people who committed suicide were experiencing insomnia. This means that not enough sleep leads to the deterioration of the physical well-being, which furthermore leads to the appearance of suicidal tendencies.

Continuous lack of sleep leads to the inflammation of your ulcer. As we previously mentioned, lack of sleep leads to increased stress levels in your body, bad mood and negative overall health, which as a result leads to problems with the entire organism. The digestive system develops inflammations because it is very delicate and it reacts to these kinds of problems.

Men who are dealing with insomnia have 60% higher risk of developing prostate cancer that those who sleep enough. This happens due to the melatonin hormone which is secreted when a person is exposed to higher amounts of artificial lights.

Besides leading to diabetes, insufficient sleeping can also lead to obesity. The researchers have discovered that individuals who sleep less are at greater risk of gaining excessive body weight, which furthermore, leads to diabetes.
